Undergraduate Programs:

The American University of Armenia may award a select number of male Republic of Armenia citizens with military deferment for the duration of their four years of undergraduate studies.  Military deferment is allocated proportionally amongst each undergraduate program based on the number of admitted, male citizens of Armenia who request military deferment in their Application for Admission. As the number of military deferment spots the University receives is limited, the process of receiving military deferment is competitive.  Only those applicants submitting complete applications, including proof of English language proficiency through either the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic exams and proof of math proficiency through the AUA e-Math Test or SAT exams, by the regular admissions deadline date will be considered for military deferment.

In choosing recipients, the Undergraduate Military Deferment Committee, appointed by the Provost, factors in officially reported entrance exam scores at a weight of 75% and academic grades at a weight of 25%.

Military deferment recipients at AUA are not state sponsored. However, recipients will receive scholarships from the University to cover the full cost of tuition for the first year of study.

Those recipients whose educational contracts are terminated by either party will lose their military deferment and be reported to the relevant state authorities.

Military deferment recipients must follow all regulations as stipulated by Republic of Armenia law.

Military deferment decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
